This past weekend Tony had a meeting in St. George and our friends had a meeting in Las Vegas, so we met up in St. George to mountain bike. We rode Gooseberry Mesa which was black diamonds and had a great time. It was really technical and I had a hard time, but I loved the challenge.
The views were amazing and I loved being out in the warm sun again. It is hard to believe that Christmas is just around the corner when you are sweating in the dessert. The next day we did a ride called Bear Claw and it was a ton of fun too, but one minute I was like this.......
And the next minute I was like this.....
I really have no idea what happened. I was just riding down and I remember thinking "oh weird there is the sky, and look here comes the dirt" and the THUD!! At first I thought I was fine and then the pain sunk in and I didn't think that I would be able to ride out. I scraped my arm
and leg, jammed my shoulder and skinned and bruised my hip. My hip immediately started swelling and I almost threw up from the pain. Tony made me take some ibuprofen first and then they cleaned me up. After about 30 minutes I felt like I could ride back. Every bump killed and I was so shaky. I knew that if I let that be my last ride that it would be hard to get back on again so after getting back to the condo for a few hours we took Ben out on an easy ride. It looked like a dirt bike park, but it was for mountain bikes only.
Ben did awesome and learned how to ride down steep hills, and it helped me get my confidence back.
The next morning I woke up in so much pain I could hardly stand it. So I am told that I will feel crappy for awhile, but I know I will ride again. I am looking into getting some body armor though. I know some people do not understand why I do this. No I don't like to get bloody and hurt, but I do love being outdoors, challenging my body to do something that seems so hard and scary, and spending time with my husband and good friends. I will take to the good with the bad, it really had been something positive in my life these past few months. The last day of our trip we went hiking with the kids in Snow Canyon.

The kids love climbing on the rocks, playing in the sand, and exploring the lava caves.
And even though I am in a lot of pain right now, I can't wait to go back and do it all again (except the crashing part of course!)
