It's official. I had my first crash on a mountain (opposed to in the driveway). On Saturday we went biking with Scott and Paula and my Dad. My Dad got a sweet new bike and we decided to go and break it in. We went up to Park City and rode the mid-mountain trail. Right when we started off my Dad took a nasty spill and really scraped up his leg.
But at least his bike was ok :) If I had been him I probably would have turned around and went home, but he kept going. It was an absolutely beautiful day. The leaves are starting to change colors and storms were coming and going so quickly. Somehow we at least managed to stay dry.
And Paula managed to stay beautiful with a little chapstick touch up.(I think this picture could be an ad for chapstick)
I took my spill on some switch backs that I took too fast. I couldn't get my feet unclipped quick enough, they were still clipped in after my fall. Luckily the ground was really soft from the rain and I ended up with a little scratch on my knee and a bruised shoulder. Shortly after that we wondered off the trail and ended up on a black diamond trail. It was insane, I can't believe anyone can ride that. It was steep and loose and covered in logs and roots. Needless to say I walked most of it. Tony took a fall around there and took a handle bar in his gut.
He's soo tuff!
Scott was the only one that didn't take a fall the whole day.
When we finally came out of the trail we all started laughing when we look over at my dad and he had a twig sticking out of the wounds on his elbow.
We made it to Starbucks right as it started to rain again. Even though it was a crazy ride, I had a blast! I absolutely love hanging out with these guys!
Notice my Dad's awesome new bike!

I've still yet to figure out the appeal of bloody crashes. I'm glad you guys enjoy it - I'm afraid I won't be joining that clan anytime soon...
You are officially a biker chick now... I think, not that I know anything about it and really have no idea what I am talking about. I would like to say that it looks like a blast but..., but to each his own!
That is so disgusting. Yucky bloody cuts. Eeeeeew! I am glad that you are not wearing spandex in the pictures. Please tell me that you're not going to start wearing biker spandex.
Is Tony going to start shaving his legs? All of my brothers were hard into biking and 2 of them shaved their legs and bodies for their mountain races. NASTY!
I am sure your mountain rides are beautiful, LOVE the Utah mountains!
Actually I am wearing spandex! I choose to go faggy rather than baggy. Baggy shorts get caught on the seat and can lead to crashes, also your butt needs the padded shorts. Aside from the bloody crashes you would probably love it. It is an awesome workout going up and beautiful scenery.
